I have been photographing professionally for ten years and am currently living in College Station, Texas, doing freelance work in the New York area. My photographs have been exhibited and purchased for collections in galleries and institutions around Iowa, where I formerly lived, and Wisconsin and published in such periodicals as Iowa Journal of Cultural Studies, Utflukt (Oslo, Norway), Book Magazine, and Redbook. I have also done a variety of publicity work with authors, musicians, and visual artists, and for the University of Iowa foundation.

My portrait aesthetic emphasizes a natural look, semi-documentary in style, with people in comfortable settings and comfortable with me. The best of my portraits express an exchange of trust and intimacy between the photographer and subject. When looking at my portraits one may sense a range of emotions from funny to powerful, and sometimes with a hard won dignity.
